Burglars target children’s half term trip money

27 May 2016

Burglars have stolen money to be used on half term trips during a break-in at Grangetown Play Centre on Tuesday night.

The thieves also damaged the kitchen at the centre off Ferry Road – and also took the children’s own spending money from their tuck shop.

Friends of Grangetown Playcentre put out appeals on social media for community help to replace the stolen cash – so kids can go on next week’s trips to the cinema and Crealy Park.

There has already been a “great response” from local people, including groups having collections.

Anyone who saw anything suspcious overnight on Tuesday is asked to contact the police.

Wendy Ford of the friends group thanked people for their support and said on Thursday: “We opened again today and have had so much support and donations from parents and people of the community. Kids back in enjoying themselves – it’s going to take more than a break in to dampen our spirits.”

Details of the half term activities are below. Any offers of help – you can contact the Friends of Grangetown Play Centre on Facebook.
