The amateur bakers of Grangetown are being challenged to produce the goods for the Grangetown Bake Off challenge at the community winter fayre on Saturday.
Anyone can enter – and whether it’s fluffy fancies, creative cupcakes or full on fruitcake, we’re on the look-out for Grangetown’s rising stars in the kitchen department.
You might be more Chuck Berry than Mary Berry, but give it a go. Bring along your efforts by 1.30pm to the Grange Gardens Bowls Pavilion to see if you can tickle the tastebuds of our distinguished judging panel. Note, there’s no cooking at the fayre itself, you must bring your cakes and pastries with you. We trust you but we can spot a Mr Kipling tart taken out of the box a mile away.
The event between 12pm and 4pm also includes:
- Santa’s Grotto
- Free donkey rides for children
- There will also be a “Made In Grangetown” crafts in aid of local schools and a story corner.
Meanwhile, Cardiff Council will be hosting the first in a series of consultation events at the fayre on its budget plans for the coming year. It is a chance to look at the proposals and how they impact on local services. The council is also looking for more volunteers to help run some aspects of services in the future. The council consultation has opened and more details are online.
