There’s a good chance though that someone knows a friend or family member who has gone through a mental health issue or they themselves have experienced depression, anxiety or even a serious problem.

A day has been organised on Monday 7th December which aims to increase understanding and discuss what services are available.

The event (10am-3pm) is open to anyone, non professionals and professionals, people who have an interest in mental health or some sort of experience of it. It’s also open to all ages.

The programme includes speakers from Nexus – who are involved in older people’s mental health; Sefyll who work in adult mental health services; Hafal, a charity for people with serious mental illness and their carers; and Solace, who help those affected by memory problems, dementia, depression or other mental illness. Workshops will be held in the afternoon and lunch and refreshments will be provided.

The day has been organised by Cardiff University as part of its transforming communities programme. More information is available from Gemma Stacey-Emile: Stacey-emileg@cardiff.ac.uk or Alicia Stringfellow: StringfellowA@cardiff.ac.uk Tel: 02920 687707
