Plaid unveils candidates for 2017 local elections

21 September 2016

Plaid Cymru has unveiled its three candidates to fight the local council elections next May.

Tariq Awan, who fought for the party in the ward in the 2012 election, is standing again. His community involvement includes being general secretary of the Grangetown Muslim Cultural Centre.

The party although it did not win any of the three seats pushed Labour hard four years ago.

Elin Roberts, who works as a press and communications officer for the party has also been selected, along with Richard Vaughan, a pianist, composer and music teacher.

Labour is expected to select its candidates in the next few weeks, with sitting councillor Ashley Govier stepping down and now another vacancy due to the sudden death of councillor Chris Lomax last week.
