Plans for another take-away on Penarth Road have been turned down by Cardiff councillors.
The proposal by Mr Raf Sabir would have seen the former Polish Mis shop turned into the take-away.
But councillors said it would have meant “the loss of viable convenience shop without justification”.
It comes as shop fronts in Penarth Road and Clare Road are being given a facelift as part of a three-year regeneration programme.
The plan for the take-away had hoped to benefit from this. Its planning document said it was in “similar style” to other shops in the area.
