Winter work and still a little festive at community garden!

13 January 2017

The community garden group at Grange Pavilion is still thinking of Christmas – by planting some trees.

Volunteers will be meeting at the bowls green in Grange Gardens this Sunday 15th, 2pm-4pm to do a bit of winter work.

It includes planting two Christmas trees, which were donated by the Wales Millennium Centre.

Last year they grew a crop of Brussels sprouts – so this is even more festive!

There are also crocus bulbs to plant, with spring in mind.

Elen Robert, one of the group, said: “We have a number of things that need doing, and could really do with your support.

“Also if we have time, we could sow some poppy seeds.”

There may also be some soil testing to help determine what will be grown in future.

Anyone is welcome to join in – and there are lots more sessions planned during the coming seasons, as the weather hopefully improves.

It’s a great way to learn about growing plants and vegetables, and pretty sociable too.
